ABOUT ME

Juan Ponce is a freelance writer from Los Angeles, California. He received a B.A. in History from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). In addition to History, Juan studied Screenwriting, Literature, Film and Television Production.

Since 2018 he’s produced multiple shorts, comic issues, and graphic novels with amazing creators from across the world. He’s worked with publishers such as Marvel Comics, A Wave Blue World, and Action Lab Entertainment. His work spans multiple genres and themes. From slice of life stories of heartbreak, to modern day fantasy tales, to action-comedies.

In March 2020 his superhero comic book, The World's Strongest, was released by Action Lab Entertainment. The book was met with critical acclaim upon its release. Later that year Juan self-published a short sports-drama story titled, A Match. In September, 2021 his short story, The Recording Studio, was featured in A Wave Blue World’s horror anthology Dead Beats 2. A few months later Juan made his Marvel Comics debut in the pages of Marvel Voices: Comunidades. A beautiful anthology highlighting Latinx Marvel heroes and creators. In March 2022 Juan’s graphic novel Thirty-Three was fully funded on the crowdfunding site Zoop.  The over-the-top dark action comedy and family drama garnered very positive critic and reader reviews.

In the Summer of 2022 Juan was the writer of a 6-chapter story arc for Marvel’s Voices Unlimited: America Chavez. His story arc (Voices issues 12-17) released exclusively in the Marvel Unlimited App. Most recently, in Fall of 2023, he wrote a backup story for Marvel's Scarlet Witch #9.

When he’s not writing Juan enjoys spending time with his lovely daughter, wife, and their adorable dog Fifi. They're his biggest inspiration.
